I end up flip-flopping with depression and elation over this inauguration. Part of me says, "it's the beginning of the end." The other part says, "it's the beginning of the end." But I react differently to both. On one hand I'm dreading the fact that the liberties our Fathers fought for and risked their families, fortunes, lives for, are literally gone and are only going to be further buried by the Obama administration. Afterall, it's all in the name of Hope and Change and nothing else other than nebulous terms that mean nothing in the end other than the erosion of our liberties.
On the other hand, I'm excited to sit back and watch as people get exactly what they wished for! You wanted this numskull in office, well, you're going to reap what you sowed. It's just a shame that it ends up affecting us too. I truly believe there's going to be some sort of uprising out of this presidential term. I don't know for sure if it's going to be violent or not, but there will be newsworthy civil unrest. Ayn Rand may also make an appearance in the best seller list again with Atlas Shrugged. I certainly see an opportunity here for her to become better known as major companies and the People (the real tax payers) no longer being able to take anymore. Something has got to give.
Interesting how Obama has completely sold out the white half of his heritage. Completely. You'd never know that the white part of his family raised him without the benefit of the black father that abandoned him. Nope, never know it. It wouldn't benefit him at all since he can't be judged by the content of his character and would rather be judged by the color of his skin.
The thing that gets me the most is the absolute abandon of the press buying into the whole thing without a single challenge to any of BO's lofty rhetoric. On top of that BO has become a commercial enterprise. Pepsi buying huge billboards and changing their emblem to look eerily like the new Presidential Seal. Not only is every holiday an exercise in commericalism, now we have the American Presidency too!
Yep, this country is going to finally lose everything. Then, once the dust has settled, people like you and me can simply say "I told you so." Then, it will be up to people like us to get it back again. Back to the way it should've stayed.
This is an opportunity. It gives me hope. Hope that the straw is finally going to break our backs. It gives us a chance to change. Although, change in this case, is change back to the way things were, back to the Constitution. There's nothing new under even Obama's sun. All of the things the Founders warned us about in the Federalist and anti-Federalist papers have become the here and now.
